At our IOP treatment program, you receive services from experienced providers who genuinely care about helping you feel better. We teach you coping methods and help you gain confidence in using them so you can better navigate daily life.
Intensive Outpatient at Old Vineyard: Why Choose Us?
Our providers include licensed, board-certified mental health counselors. Providers approach each patient with empathy and concern and take time to get to know you as an individual. We use a variety of methods to help you make changes supporting your long-term mental health.
Highlights of our program include:
- Seamless care: If you recently completed Old Vineyard’s partial hospitalization program (PHP), you see some of the same providers and therapists in IOP. This arrangement enables you to receive services from providers you already know and are comfortable with.
- Flexibility: IOP mental health services consist of intensive therapy for three hours a day, three days a week. You choose the weekdays that work best for your schedule. Between sessions, you have plenty of time for work, family and the activities you enjoy.
- Compassion: Seeking mental health treatment takes a lot of courage, and we commend you for it. We are honored that you trust us to care for you and help you have a good experience. Therapists lead with kindness, making it easier to open up and fully benefit from therapies.
- Coordination: Psychiatrists, nurse practitioners and therapists work together to manage your care. We meet regularly to discuss your needs and progress. These efforts allow us to tailor services that help you achieve your mental health goals.
How Can the IOP Treatment Program Help Me?
IOP makes it a little easier to move forward from severe mental health issues like anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). We also assist patients dealing with:
- Grief and loss
- Issues in your relationships with loved ones, friends and co-workers
- New mental health diagnosis
- Recent life changes, like moving or getting a divorce
- Substance use disorder
In intensive outpatient treatment, you strengthen skills supporting your long-term mental health. We emphasize applying these skills to your daily life. This approach gives you real-world experience and a trusted place to come back to for guidance.
IOP Mental Health: What to Expect
Our IOP treatment program teaches you how to de-escalate current symptoms and take good care of yourself if they return. Sessions are from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., three days a week.
Here’s what to expect:
Admission and intake
Admissions representatives perform no-cost assessments 24/7, enabling you to receive a prompt response about your IOP eligibility. Patients who are admitted can start treatment the same day. We begin by doing a comprehensive intake assessment. It involves discussing your mental health history, symptoms, home and work life, relationships and medical issues.
IOP mental health services
Intensive outpatient services include:
- Planning: A psychiatrist, nurse practitioner and several therapists review your intake assessment. This information enables us to tailor therapies to your needs. We also help you establish treatment goals.
- Group therapy: We teach you a variety of healthy coping strategies and communication techniques. Participating in group sessions enables you to learn from the experiences of others and feel less alone during therapy. The IOP treatment program also includes activities, such as art therapy and yoga. Occasionally, pet therapy is available.
- Support: You meet with a nurse practitioner or psychiatrist once a month to discuss progress toward treatment goals and how you are feeling about it. If you are on medications, we discuss whether they meet your needs and make adjustments as necessary.
What Happens After Intensive Outpatient?
The next step of your care is often one-on-one therapy with a community-based provider. If you do not have a therapist, we help you find one and make an appointment.
If severe symptoms return, contact us for information on how to proceed. Sometimes, an additional outpatient session at Old Vineyard can help you get back on track.
