What can I expect during a typical day at Old Vineyard Behavioral?2024-03-18T17:42:33+00:00

The treatment day varies by program, but there are many common elements. During the first 24 hours, a patient will have a nursing assessment, a history and physical along with a psychiatric evaluation. Daily treatment components include daily doctor visits and group and recreational therapy. Patients with substance abuse issues will participate in AA/NA meetings in-house.

Psychiatrist: He or she directs medical management while at Old Vineyard. Patients will be seen by a psychiatrist within the first 24 hours of admission.
Registered Nurses: They are responsible for daily activities as well as medical and emotional needs. The RNs participate in behavior management and administer medications as ordered by the physician.
Mental Health Technicians: They assist with daily activities, supervising program groups and activities, taking vital signs and accompanying patients to off-unit activities.
Recreation Therapist: He or she assists with recreational activities as tools to enhance patient self-esteem, problem-solving and social skills.
Social Worker/Therapist: He or she organizes discharge plans with the patient, family, psychiatrist and community. The therapist provides group therapy for patients on the unit.

Yes. In fact, we consider family involvement to be an essential part of your treatment plan. After the patient provides consent, a clinician will contact the individual’s family with treatment information, give regular updates and help schedule family therapy sessions when appropriate.

Each patient is provided a code for family to use when they call. Phone privileges and visits with family and friends have dedicated time slots that are detailed in the patient handbook. All visitors must sign in and check any packages at the unit’s nursing station reception desk before being permitted to enter the facility.

Assessments at Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Services are no cost to you and are conducted to help us determine our patients’ mental health and treatment plan.

We strongly encourage those in need to call ahead and schedule an appointment, but we are also available for emergency mental health services.

We accept most major insurance including Medicare and TRICARE. Our assessment and referral center will ensure that insurance benefits are verified including precertification for your stay. Throughout the process, we will remain in contact with your insurance company to ensure coverage will be maintained for the duration of your stay.

The number of days is contingent on a person’s specific mental health treatment needs. Old Vineyard will provide care for the appropriate length of time through our individualized treatment plan. This ensures that patients will leave the program equipped with the tools they need to lead a successful and healthy life within the community.

  • Clothing — As there is limited storage and a washer/dryer available at no charge, plan on three days’ worth of comfortable attire with no drawstrings.
  • Slip-on shoes and socks

  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Appropriate sleepwear and undergarments

Patients are unable to smoke during their stay in our inpatient units. We can assist patients with smoking cessation assistance with a nicotine patch or inhaler while in our facilities. Patients are allowed to smoke outside during break in our outpatient programs.

What will happen after I leave Old Vineyard’s facility?2023-11-13T11:34:09+00:00

Discharge planning for patients begins on the day of admission. After treatment, Old Vineyard will provide each patient with a plan for medication and outpatient counseling to continue on the path of recovery.
