Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs

Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Services offers both Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs for adults in need of the structure and stability of the day program, but who retain the ability to return to their home in the evening.

Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) provides a structured, supportive environment for individuals who are either transitioning from an inpatient stay desiring more time for reintegration or are in need of more intensive care than outpatient therapy.  Adult individuals who seek additional care, but are not in crisis, are encouraged to enter our Partial Hospitalization Program.  This may also include family members who manage the care of a mentally ill patient.  Individuals in this program will work with a clinical team consisting of a board certified psychiatrist, a licensed therapist, and a clinical registered nurse.

Partial Hospitalization involves similar programming to an inpatient day with a full array of group therapies with the addition of dialectical based training and education.  This program ends in the early afternoon allowing for time with family or time to work.  Modalities used in this program show improvement in an individual’s ability to transition to and maintain stability in daily life.   Program staff collaborates with outpatient treatment providers while the patients are in treatment to ensure successful re-engagement.

The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed for individuals who need frequent visits with a licensed therapist each week.  In this program, patients meet three mornings a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  This option can also be a transition from another level of care at Old Vineyard.  Classes involve both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical-Based Therapy.  These programs offer a heightened level of care than what an individual is currently in, prevent the need for an inpatient stay or provide intermediate steps after hospitalization.  The goal is a successful return to a community therapist or other community services.

These programs are designed to help patients develop and implement alternative coping skills to deal with their various psychiatric and behavioral health issues. Both programs use group therapy and psycho-educational classes to facilitate the complete development and understanding of coping skills and mechanisms. Patients will see a psychiatrist two to three times each week in these programs.

A Board Certified psychiatrist is responsible for overseeing the programs while a close-knit team consisting of a psychiatrist, a licensed clinician and a registered nurse provide daily patient care.

Each patient will be able to leave either program equipped with an individualized discharge plan to ensure future behavioral health and well-being. The Adult Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs operate Monday through Friday and are open to adults ages 18 and over.
