Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs

Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Services offers both a Partial Hospitalization Program –PHP (a day program) and an Intensive Outpatient Program—IOP (a morning program) for adults in need of structure and stability but want to return to their home in the afternoon. These programs are designed to help patients develop and implement improved coping skills to manage their various psychiatric and behavioral health issues. Both programs use group therapy and psycho-educational classes to facilitate learning.

Perhaps you or someone you know is struggling with a recent change like divorce, another loss or maybe a new diagnosis, new medication, or trauma.

All of these may leave you feeling overwhelmed, depressed, anxious, angry or even reluctant to get out of bed.

Old Vineyard Behavioral Health is here to help manage this difficult time. You will:

  • Learn new skills and better ways to cope.
  • Meet with others who feel the same way that will share the journey.
  • Meet daily with a therapist and a behavioral health nurse who will give support.
  • Meet regularly with a psychiatrist to monitor medications and make sure that they are working.

Our day program provides a structured, supportive environment for individuals who are in need of more intensive treatment than weekly therapist sessions. This program meets Monday-Friday from 8:45a-3:00p and focuses on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills modules with a two-week rotation as well as cognitive behavioral therapy. Group sessions include emotion regulation, mindfulness, relapse prevention, wellness, interpersonal skill building, stress tolerance, and weekly recreation therapy. A smaller group also meets on relapse prevention. A Board Certified psychiatrist is responsible for overseeing the program while a close-knit team consisting of a psychiatrist, a licensed clinician and a registered mental health nurse provide daily patient care and medication management. Patients will see the psychiatrist two to three times each week to ensure that their medication is the best fit for them. During the program patients enjoy a continental breakfast and hot lunch daily. Family counseling is encouraged.

This small group program is designed for individuals needing frequent therapist visits. They meet with a therapist 3 mornings weekly from 8:45-noon. The individual chooses the best days of the week for their schedule. Techniques focus on coping skills and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) like the partial day program described above.

The programs help patients develop and implement enhanced coping skills to better manage everyday living. They offer a heightened level of care than their current experience, prevent the need for an inpatient stay, or provide transition from a higher level of care. The goal is a successful return to a community therapist or other community services. Each patient will be able to leave either program equipped with an individualized discharge plan to ensure future behavioral health and well-being. The Adult Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs operate Monday through Friday and are open to adults ages 18 and over.
