The goal of our outpatient programs is to enhance life management skills and to develop healthy coping skills. Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Services offers day programs known as Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), a morning program for adults in need of the structure and stability but who are home for evenings and weekends. These programs are specifically designed to help patients develop and implement improved coping skills to manage their various psychiatric, mental health and behavioral health issues. Both programs use group therapy and psycho-educational classes using evidence-based practices under the direct supervision of a multi-disciplinary team.
Partial Hospitalization Program (Day Program)
Our behavioral health partial day programs often benefits those that are struggling through a lifestyle change such as a divorce, loss of a loved one or even a new diagnosis. Sometimes trauma or new medications can require outpatient services as well. Old Vineyard also has a Dual Diagnosis Partial Program for individuals that have both a behavioral health and a substance use diagnosis.
At Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Services, we offer partial day treatment for individuals suffering from:
- Intense anger
- Other mood disorders
- Dual diagnosis with substance use disorder
It is our goal to help our patients learn the coping skills necessary to overcome whatever is making life challenging and learn to manage their mental health issue. Evidence-based programs benefit individuals affected by behavioral health issues or a dual diagnosis that also involves addiction to substances. Our evidence-based treatment utilizes Dialectical and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (DBT and CBT) as well as the Matrix Model for individuals with addiction.
While in our partial treatment programs, our patients will:
- Learn new skills and better ways to cope with their feelings
- Meet with others who suffer from similar emotions and mental health conditions so that they can share the journey
- Meet daily with a therapist and behavioral health nurse who will give the support necessary for recovery
- Meet regularly with a licensed psychiatrist to monitor medications and make sure the patient is on the proper dose
Our day programs, provide a structured, supportive environment for individuals who are in need of more intensive treatment. These programs meet Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm and focus on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills modules with a two-week rotation. These group sessions involve emotion regulation, mindfulness, relapse prevention, wellness, interpersonal skill building, stress tolerance, addiction and weekly recreation therapy.
A board-certified psychiatrist oversees the program with a close-knit team consisting of the psychiatrist, a licensed masters level therapist and a registered mental health nurse. This team provides daily patient care and medication management for those in the program. Patients will see their assigned psychiatrist several times each week to ensure that their medication is at the right dose, is effective and to receive adjustments as necessary throughout treatment. During the program, patients enjoy a continental breakfast and hot lunch daily. Family counseling is encouraged for these programs as a way to ensure family members understand the challenges of their loved one. It also helps to ensure a better chance of recovery after completion of the program. Our treatment team will set up next steps to continue progress after our programs end.
Intensive Outpatient Program
This small group program is designed specifically for individuals needing frequent visits during the week who are stable on medication. Patients enrolled in this program meet with a therapist three mornings per week from 9:30 am to12:30 pm. The individual attends three days a week, but may choose the best days of the week that fit their schedule. Professionals overseeing this program use a variety of techniques that focus on coping skills primarily Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Substance use groups are available for individuals with a dual diagnosis. This program typically lasts six weeks. Psychiatrist appointments may be scheduled on days the patient is not attending the program.
The purpose of this program is to:
- Help patients develop and implement enhanced coping skills to better manage their daily lives
- Offer a heightened level of care that patients cannot get from outside therapy sessions
- Provide ongoing support of new skills
- Help the patient make a successful return to their community
