Program Overview and Objectives

According to the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services, more than 12,000 North Carolinians died from opioid-related overdoses during 1999–2016. In addition to the devastating effects on families and communities, the epidemic poses new challenges for prevention and treatment. In this session, Dr. Reddy will give an overview of the opioid epidemic in North Carolina and will describe treatment options available.

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the prevalence of opioid addiction in North Carolina
  • Discuss evidence-based treatment options for people experiencing opioid addiction
